North American fiber access deployment leader Calix expands Migration and Assessment services packages to include expert assistance in AXOS Enablement Services for operators of all sizes

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX) today announced Tri-County Telephone Association (TCT) has utilized Calix Professional Services to upgrade its fiber network across eight Kansas counties. Armed with the Calix GPON Migration Service, TCT embarked on a project to bring new and enhanced broadband services to its subscribers by upgrading its legacy PON technology to the Calix E7-2 Intelligent Modular System. Calix Services’ expertise allowed TCT to take advantage of increased operational efficiencies and achieve a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through consolidating all services onto a single E7-2 enabled fiber network. TCT engaged Calix Services for design, planning, and configuration tools, as well as field-proven practices. Through Calix Services, TCT significantly decreased the amount of time taken to physically migrate subscribers to new GPON technology – in some cases by 98 percent when compared to traditional manual approaches.

“Calix Services made the whole process of migrating to the latest fiber technology painless and with minimal impact on our operational resources,” said Mike Houston, network manager at TCT. “The Calix GPON Migration Service delivered a complete solution that has allowed us to quickly ramp and come to market with new and differentiated services. In addition, we have been able to upgrade thousands of our subscribers to the E7-2 with no downtime, which has helped us leap ahead and begin to start the next phase of network migration. Given our experience, we look forward to leveraging the experts at Calix Services again to help us further expand our portfolio to include new service offerings and network technologies.”

Calix Services’ unique approach to technology migration involves field-proven processes, extensive access and cloud expertise, and automated tools calibrated to each service provider’s environment. Much of the migration service can be applied remotely by Calix network engineers to fast-track the cutover process. For example, the GPON Migration Service begins with an analysis of the current state of the network which remotely identifies hardware and software incompatibilities between the current and target network and then documents the activities needed to migrate subscribers to the upgraded network. Subscriber service profiles are automatically translated for unparalleled accuracy and services are tested post-cutover to prevent subscriber downtime. Furthermore, Calix Services can easily scale to accommodate network migrations of all sizes.

“By taking advantage of a service like the GPON Migration Service, service providers can rely on the deep expertise and toolset of the Calix team to facilitate network migration, allowing their people to focus on improving subscriber experience and growing the business,” said Greg Billings, senior vice president of services at Calix. “Our Calix Services experts make the complex and error-prone task of migrating from one technology to another easier, alleviating the burden on the service provider. We have helped many customers dramatically reduce the time necessary to migrate subscribers to new access platforms especially during the cutover phase where we’re able to move hundreds of subscribers in a single maintenance window compared to several days using manual approaches. We are so thrilled with the success of companies like TCT that we are announcing new professional services packages including AXOS Enablement services for B6, C7, and E7 GPON EXA migration to AXOS.

Calix Services feature an entire array of professional service packages, support, managed services, and education options. These services complement world-class Calix cloud and software platforms and systems to give service providers the expertise and resources they need to tackle projects involving network optimization, technology migration, and the delivery of new features and services.
